Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Mac YouTube Uploader handles information when you use the website and the macOS app.

Overview

Mac YouTube Uploader is a native macOS app for selecting local video files, preparing upload metadata, connecting a YouTube channel, and uploading videos through YouTube API Services. The app is designed to run locally on your Mac. It does not operate an app backend that receives your video files, YouTube tokens, upload metadata, or channel data.

Information handled by the app

  • Video files and folders: files you select or drop into the app are read locally so they can be queued, reconstructed when split into chunks, and uploaded to the YouTube channel you choose.
  • Upload metadata: titles, descriptions, tags, category, privacy status, embedding settings, and kids safety defaults are stored locally in macOS app preferences.
  • Google OAuth details: if you manually enter a Google OAuth client ID or client secret, those values are stored locally in macOS app preferences.
  • YouTube channel information: after you connect a Google account, the app may store channel IDs, channel names, handles, thumbnail URLs, and OAuth credentials so you can upload without signing in every time.

Google and YouTube data

The app requests access to the YouTube upload scope and YouTube read-only scope. These permissions are used to list the YouTube channels available to your Google account, keep the selected channel connected, refresh credentials when needed, and upload videos with the metadata you provide.

OAuth credentials for connected YouTube channels are stored in the macOS Keychain. The app uses Google OAuth in your system browser with a local loopback redirect and PKCE. The app does not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train machine learning models.

Mac YouTube Uploader's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

How information is shared

Videos and related metadata are sent to YouTube only when you choose to upload them. YouTube and Google process that information under their own terms and privacy policies. The app does not intentionally share your local video files, OAuth tokens, channel details, or upload metadata with any other third party.

This website is hosted as a static site. The hosting provider may process routine technical data such as IP address, request path, browser type, timestamps, and error logs to deliver and secure the website. The website does not include project-run analytics, advertising trackers, or account registration.

Retention and deletion

  • The upload queue is for the current app session and upload history is not intentionally persisted by the app.
  • Metadata defaults and app preferences remain on your Mac until you change them, clear the app's stored data, or remove the app's preferences.
  • Connected channel credentials remain in the macOS Keychain until you disconnect the channel, delete the stored Keychain item, or revoke access from your Google account.
  • Temporary reconstructed video files are created in the macOS temporary directory when split recordings need to be assembled. The app attempts to remove those temporary assembly files after upload processing.

You can revoke the app's Google access from your Google account permissions. Videos already uploaded to YouTube must be managed in YouTube.

Children

Mac YouTube Uploader is not directed to children under 13. Do not use the app if you are not old enough to manage a Google or YouTube account under the rules that apply to you.

Changes

This policy may be updated as the app or website changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last updated.
